OUR APPROACH

(Hypothetical brand statement)

The Arroyo @Plano

A.K.A. The Groove

Get into the groove.

Spending an afternoon Downtown?

Check out The Arroyo, the quaint little groove between 14th and 15th.

Between shopping the local boutiques and sampling the culinary fare, the Arroyo provides the perfect space to relax and recharge with neighbors and friends.

The Arroyo @ Plano brings culture, fun and visitors together in a creative, comfortable, relaxing space. Experience ever-changing art exhibits and interactive spaces, learn a little about the history of Downtown, snap your next ♥-worthy selfie... or just grab a seat and make some new friends.

The Arroyo @ Plano is about coming together and enjoying what Downtown is all about.

Get into the groove next time you’re Downtown.

See you @ The Arroyo!

HOW WE SEE IT

We frequent specific places primarily because of “who” they are to us. Places become members of our friend-group – contributing to plans, moods, and conversations. Looking for a raucous live music scene? Call up Deep Ellum.

Want to feel like a member of the exotic-car-driving elite? Bring The Shops at Legacy along.

Downtown Plano is still working on its persona, but a lot has been said about the kind of friend Downtown should be; the quirky friend you share a drink and your work day with, the bff you explore hobbies and creative tastes with, the buddy you laugh with without judgment or conditions.

The Pedestrian Walkway on 15th is a prime opportunity for Downtown to introduce itself to visitors in a number of important and memorable ways:

• A safe, functional through-way, connecting 14th and 15th street

- Adequate lighting

- Material durability

- Attractive, easily maintained landscaping

- A cohesive design that visually connects the 14th & 15th street zones

- Appropriate signage and wayfinding to keep visitors informed

• A rest area for shoppers & visitors

- Comfortable, durable seating

- Bistro areas

- Shade zones

• A multi-functional, flexible exhibit & display space

- Facilities for art exhibition

- A social media opportunity zone

- Calendar display and/or marketing opportunities (digital?)

- Historic references and/or display opportunities

- Sponsorship zone for signage and/or sponsor marketing

Materials, accessibility, and usage will all be taken into account when determining the appropriate design for the space. The availability/ accessibility of utilities, the current layout of stationary elements, and the design and design language used by the newly built and adjacent Morada Apartments will all factor into the final concept as well.

That said, many of the goals for the new space go beyond what those base considerations will influence. While that underlying aesthetic will certainly influence the more interactive elements in the space, we feel that integrating rustic styling and urban-industrial fixtures into that base style will enhance the visual appeal, create more opportunities for functional spaces, and flow better with the historic surroundings and a vibrant brand identity.
